All Mobile Communications Standards

Connected everywhere and every time. Our SIM cards combine tried-and-tested and new technologies:

  • Wireless standards from 2G (GPRS) to 4G and 5G
  • Narrowband IoT
  • LTE-M (LTE Cat-M1)

IoT SIM cards can connect to single, multiple or all existing mobile networks in a country.

IoT SIM cards – the benefits compared with SIM cards from national providers.

  • Only one SIM card is required for all networks.
  • The workload for shipping/logistics and the total SIM card management is vastly reduced.
  • Data pooling can be used across all networks.
  • Optimum network coverage and availability is guaranteed, depending on requirements – for an individual country, neighbouring countries, specific groups of countries or entire global regions, for example, the EU.

Roaming means that you can log onto more than one network.
Normal national SIM cards from a network operator do not have the roaming option in the country of purchase. You cannot log on to other networks. With national roaming, our IoT SIM cards now offer the benefit of logging onto multiple or even all of a country’s available mobile networks. And you gain the price advantage of only paying for one tariff.

Everything at a glance with our myFUSION – SIM management platform

With our multi-directional and multi-level SIM management platform myFUSION, we can provide total transparency and give you and your customers complete control over your IoT connectivity and connected hardware.

You can fully control SIM cards, tariffs and data pools in real time. By setting alarms, protection against excessive consumption is ensured – for individual SIM cards or entire pools. Our platform also protects the connected devices with an IMEI lock.

Optional services

Data pooling – flexible tariff adjustment when your requirements change

Dynamic data pooling

All SIM cards on the same tariff share a common data pool. SIM cards can access unused data volume on other SIM cards. Booked volume is used more efficiently and therefore also reduces monthly costs. And every time you add a new SIM card to the tariff, you increase the size of the shared data pool.

Five different SIM cards, each with 20 MB, are symbolised by an arrow to indicate that they result in a dynamic pooling of 100 MB

Static data pooling – fixed data pool regardless of number of SIM cards

Each SIM card assigned to this data pool can use the agreed data volume without limitation. That means a single SIM card can use 80% of the pool and the remaining 20% is available to other SIM cards in the tariff. The number of SIM cards that can use and access the pool is variable and can be changed flexibly. However, the more SIMs activated in the pool, the lower the calculated data volume available per SIM. Flexibility and security are important to us at FUSION IoT, which is why tariff adjustments are possible at any time. If you use the whole available pool before the end of a month, the devices and connected applications will continue to function without restriction. The additional usage is guaranteed and covered by a favourable follow-on price per MB.

Worldwide roaming for all your requirements

Thanks to the national roaming feature, our SIM cards can work in single, multiple or in all existing mobile networks in any country. Normal national SIM cards from a network operator do not have the option of roaming in the home country. You cannot log on to other networks. To do this you would need SIM cards registered in another country.

Our SIM cards allow roaming in every country including the country of origin. This always ensures optimum network coverage and availability. This feature is critical for security-relevant applications, and a significant advantage over classic data cards.

What additional benefits are there for you?

  • Only one SIM card is required for all networks.
  • The workload for shipping/logistics and the entire SIM card management is considerably reduced.
  • Data pooling can be used across all networks.
  • Optimal network coverage (to the country overview) and availability is guaranteed, depending on requirements – for an individual country, neighbouring countries, specific groups of countries or entire global regions, for example, the EU

Fee-down option with automatic cost control

Drawing of three stacks of coins in front of a colour gradient from blue to red

In the event of a necessary or unforeseeable significant overrun of the agreed data volume, e.g. in the event of an emergency or malfunction, a special, one-off data requirement, such as an update or hardware failure / error / defect … you benefit from the following advantages:

  • no cost explosion and
  • transparent fees for additional consumption

With the fee-down option, the charges for excess consumption not covered by the tariff are reduced significantly in stages so that data overage charges are minimized and can be calculated transparently.

Voice & SMS packages for special requirements

For certain requirements, FUSION IoT SIM cards with additional Voice or SMS packages are the ideal choice, for example for elevator emergency calls (voice) and various alarm scenarios (SMS). FUSION IoT offers two different ways of integrating these two packages as an option for the SIM cards.

SIM Option: Inclusive package per SIM
You can book a monthly volume package of voice minutes and text messages as an option for each SIM card. Once you have used up the booked volumes for the respective SIM card, subsequent minutes or text messages are billed according to usage.

Pooling Options: Voice Minutes and SMS
You can book a total pool of voice minutes and text messages which is available for all active SIM cards. There is no limit or condition on how many units the individual SIM card can use from the pool. The monthly billing amount is therefore the basic fee for the individual SIM cards plus the total pool of voice minutes or text messages used by all SIM cards in the pool. Once the total pool has been used up, subsequent minutes or text messages are charged according to usage.

1 kB clocking

FUSION IoT SIM cards use the 1 kB clocking feature to ensure that the smallest possible data unit is used for billing and evaluation. With regular or classic SIM cards as well as some M2M basic and standard SIM cards, billing is in 100 kB or 10 kB cycles. This leads to the agreed data volume being exceeded much more quickly and consequently to vastly higher costs and subsequent data requirements. The 1 kB clocking ensures that only the kBs used are actually counted for a short “response” or pinging of the card/terminal device and that 100 kB is not counted every time.

Drawing Illustration of an arrow in front of a colour gradient from blue to red

Example calculation for a 1 MB tariff:

1 kB clocking
20x pinging with 2 kB data consumption per connection = 40 kB consumption billed.
Consumption within the inclusive volume and no additional costs.

100 kB clocking
20x pinging with 2 kB data consumption per connection = 2,000 kB (20×100 kB) consumption billed.
Consumption is 1,000 kB (approx. 1 MB) above the inclusive volume and therefore considerable extra costs.

Private or individual APN plus VPN connection and IP addresses

Drawing of a mobile phone mast in front of a colour gradient from blue to red

By design, FUSION IoT SIM cards offer a higher level of security, as they cannot be easily accessed from external sources, the “public internet” for instance. This is because FUSION IoT SIM cards do not use the standard public internet access points and “addresses”, known as APNs (Access Point Names). The FUSION IoT SIM cards use special access points that are only known to a select group or only released for certain card types. These are known as private APNs. The FUSION IoT SIM cards are assigned one or more private APNs, and the SIM cards can only be used with these APNs. An approved APN has to be used for these SIMs in the hardware / end devices to access the Internet and exchange data via the SIM card.

Security is increased even further with an “individual” private APN, which is configured and set up specifically for a company or a special application. Normally, a VPN and private IP addresses are also implemented so that data transfer and access options are particularly secure.

Important to know!
With FUSION IoT, a private APN is always included as standard in the service package at no extra cost. This APN is communicated to the customer in their contract documents and when their SIM cards are sent. FUSION IoT offers the optional provision of individual private APNs plus corresponding VPN connection and IP addresses as an extended scope of services for a fee. Blacklisting and whitelisting services can also be implemented.

Flexible tariffs

Define your SIM card operability based on your requirements.

  • By region – such as the “EU” or “all countries bordering your country”
  • in individual / several countries – “Germany only” or “USA, China, France & Brazil”

By tariff model with individualised consumption parameters.

  • With a fixed data volume – e.g. 1 MB / 10 MB / 250 MB / 1 GB / 4 GB / … – and fixed monthly fee
  • With billing according to consumption / Pay Per Use (PPU) with “Fee-Down Option
  • With temporary / seasonal tariff breaks at no or significantly reduced monthly costs
  • Additional options for SMS and voice services
  • Individual tariffs and solutions for large-scale projects can be modelled

Increased security with IMEI lock

Drawing of a security sign in front of a colour gradient from blue to red

An IMEI is the unique identification or serial number in your end device, a router for instance.  FUSION IoT guarantees additional security and protection against improper use of the IoT device, and the SIM card used via the special IMEI lock feature. Our myFUSION SIM management platform protects connected devices and hardware via IMEI lock. If the SIM card and hardware are disconnected, you as the customer or your designated representatives will receive an alert. A decision can now be made on how to proceed, e.g. whether the SIM should be blocked or, because hardware needs to be replaced, whether the SIM card should be allowed to connect to the new device.

If desired, the SIM card is automatically set to “Deactivated” status when the “IMEI lock” function and alarm are activated, so that no further use of the SIM is possible. The IMEI lock provides additional security and protection against damage.

Automatic activation of SIMs using “Active Test Mode”

FUSION IoT SIM cards offer various options and configurable settings that can be selected for the type and time of activation, depending on the customer’s individual requirements.

General advantages
IoT SIM cards are usually delivered and sent “Inactive”. This gives you as a customer the certainty that you will incur no monthly costs, such as basic charges, as long as the SIM card is not activated. This is particularly advantageous if large quantities of SIMs are required and these cards are to be installed over a long time period of perhaps several months or years or are to be deployed step-by-step. Furthermore, these inactive cards ensure that no unforeseen or undesired use can occur in other devices.

Advantages of automatic activation via “Active Test Mode”
SIM cards will activate themselves automatically once a defined free data volume has been exceeded. Especially for manufacturing and production processes where the SIM cards are integrated into complete solutions, e.g. as a SIM chip, this small “inclusive volume” is required for a short function test – without incurring any separate or additional costs. No manual action or additional work is required to bring the SIM card fitted in the device into operation on site. This is particularly useful if service providers are responsible for SIM card installation or if the customer does it themselves. The SIM card is immediately and automatically ready for use.
